Have a question or want to send us a request for a new feature? We’d love to hear from you!
We’re a small but growing team, and we want you to have the best experience with Nebo, so we’ve recently implemented a helpdesk system to track your support requests.
It’s easy to use – just email firstname.lastname@example.org, and you’ll receive confirmation that your request has been lodged. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
We’re thrilled to report that Nebo has been downloaded 50,000 times since we launched 14 months ago.
It’s a significant milestone for a specialised app, and we’d like to thank all of you for your support.
Primarily designed as a tool to automate the time-consuming task of logging sea voyages using advanced geofencing technology, Nebo’s has constantly been evolving into so much more thanks to your feedback.
Now offering the worlds best on-water community, it has never been easier to find, connect and interact with boating friends.
The key words above are “boating friends”. Nebo isn’t trying to build a broad social platform like Facebook. The aim is to keep Nebo as the go-to marine app by being about all things boating, and all about sharing the journey. Definitely no cute cat videos!
By connecting with like-minded boaters in Nebo you can now share voyages and photos, ask questions, share important information, simply arrange sunset drinks and of course have each others back while on the water.
Nebo is also a great addition to your regular safety routine. Fellow boaters and those on land can see where you are at all times making for a safer boating community.

The Nebo team
America’s Great Loop Cruisers’ Association, (AGLCA) and Nebo are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for Nebo to become the Association’s official member locator app.
With Nebo, AGLCA members can keep track of each other’s vessels, chat to each other and keep an automatic log of their adventures.
‘Loopers’ generally take around a year to travel from the Great Lakes, down the Mississippi and other inland rivers, around Florida, and up the east coast to where they started (and where their vessel ‘crosses her wake’ with much celebration).
You can see the Great Loop roughly defined by vessels using Nebo in this screenshot.
Director of the AGLCA, Kim Russo is a huge supporter of Nebo and has been pivotal in finding the best app to suit her members.
“The Great Loop is a very social trip. Fast friendships form among those pursuing the common goal of completing the 6,000 mile route. Nebo’s ability to help AGLCA members locate one another and then chat to share details about the waterway ahead or upcoming plans, makes it the ideal Great Loop companion”, Kim said.
The Nebo team is very excited to build on the existing community of Loopers using Nebo, and to provide them with everything they need to log their ‘bucket list’ trip.

Many Nebo users are recreational skippers who use Nebo to log their voyages and let friends and family know where they are on the water. However, there’s another group of users that’s growing all the time: charter companies and their guests on bare boats and flotillas holidays. There are many reasons why charter operators & their guests love Nebo.
Charter guests love Nebo as they can see and communicate with other boats around them, (socialise or ask for assistance) and the log is a great souvenir of their holiday. Nebo also allows them to easily share their daily logs and photos on their preferred social networks further preserving their memories and perhaps making those back home a little envious.
The Charter companies operations teams are also loving Nebo as they can track their fleet on Nebo’s Fleet Dashboard right from their mobile phones or desk top computers.
This enhances their guest’s safety and gives the operator peace of mind knowing where all the boats in their fleet are located at all times. They can message one boat or a whole flotilla to keep them updated with any news, weather or local events.
With so many guests sharing their experiences through Nebo, the companies are also seeing greater brand awareness across all social media platforms which is an added bonus.
Sunsail adopted Nebo for their Croatian operations in 2017 (a big call out to Keith Harvey at the Dubrovnik base – thanks again for your support!), and are currently planning a roll-out to five more bases.
“Nebo is like second nature. The hosts ask the guests to download Nebo, they scan a QR code unique to their boat, I add them to the flotilla and we’re done. It is just so easy to administer and for the guests to use and enjoy,” says Keith.
Our most recent addition is Charter Yachts Australia in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands, thanks to Annie and John who are the owner operators. Charter Yachts Australia sales manager Emma has recognised that Nebo is adding value immediately.
“Our team were just around my computer watching the vessels on their journey via the Dashboard which is a first for us, it is great to know for sure where every boat is at all times. The daily logs are amazing, and we’re quite suprised just how much data has been logged”, Emma said.
So, if you’re lucky enough to be a guest going on a charter, or a charter company wanting to add to your guest’s experience, download Nebo, get in contact and get onboard!
Nebo is honoured to be an official sponsor of the 2018 Club Marine Geographe Bay Race Week which runs from 18-23 February on the pristine waters of Geographe Bay in Busselton Western Australia.
Club Marine Geographe Bay Race Week is Western Australia’s premier yachting regatta and a much anticipated event among the Yachting fraternity. Competitors, spectators, family and friends come together to enjoy the festival atmosphere of the event’s on-water and off-water schedule.
With interest very strong for this year’s regatta, numbers will exceed 45 yachts across four divisions competing in six days of competitive racing and Nebo look forward to supporting the event.
The 2018 Race Director, Nigel Chesterfield-Evans said that every year the event attracts competitors from around the nation and offers a racing schedule suitable for all levels of sailing ability.
“We are looking forward to being the first regatta to officially introduce the Nebo app to our fleet of competitors as it will not only allow us to better monitor each boats progress and safety but will also provide our skippers with a fabulous memory of the regatta,” Mr Chesterfield-Evans said.
“Our skippers will be encouraged to download the free mobile app https://nebo.global/ and simply hit ‘Start’ at the beginning of each race day and Nebo will track and log their race,” he said.
“At the end of each day, skippers will be emailed a daily PDF report which includes a detailed log, weather observations and any photos taken along the way. A great regatta memory and fun way to compare courses and tracks with fellow competitors,” he said.
Nebo is an easy-to-use marine mobile app that is the first of its kind. Using advanced geofencing technology, Nebo creates and records detailed electronic voyage logs as a vessel enters or passes through maritime locations. The Daily Logs are great for record keeping and sharing with friends and family.
Skippers can share their race logs with individuals, groups or the public on most social media platforms, including facebook, instagram, whatsapp and more.
Comprising six days of racing and a jam-packed social calendar, the regatta is one of the most affordable events of its kind with entry fees from just AUD$295 per boat. With very competitive accommodation in Busselton, the regatta is a superb way to experience the region including the stunning coastlines and scenery, fine food and wine and unique tourism experiences.

Here at Nebo, we maintain the world’s largest database of nautical geofences, and we do this so your automated logs can be more than a track and a list of coordinates.
If your logs are looking a bit plain, we want to help!
Here’s what a log will look like in an area without Nebo Geofences.
And here’s what a log looks like in an area with Nebo Geofences. It’s much easier to read, and remember all of the log entries shown are automated. The skipper didn’t type anything!
If your log is looking a bit plain, let us know where you like to go boating, and we’ll get the Nebo Geofences in place.
Simply drop us an email email@example.com and we’ll ensure your favourite cruising ground is geofenced as soon as possible so you can start receiving more detailed logs.
The Nebo team
Just three months after its official launch on iTunes and Google Play, the Nebo boating app has been overwhelmingly embraced by boaters throughout the world.
More than 4,000 skippers are using Nebo to log their voyages in 55 countries, and on all continents other than Antarctica. Whilst not yet in Antarctica, Nebo is in regular use above the Arctic Circle.
Key to Nebo’s immediate success are features like automated logging and on-water interaction with other vessels. Skippers receive an automatically compiled log detailing each day’s activity, including their track, a detailed textual log, automated weather observations and any photos they’ve taken. It’s a great record of boat usage, and is hugely popular.
What is geofencing?
Using geofencing technology, Nebo records detailed electronic voyage logs as the vessel passes through geographical locations.
Geofences, which are best described as polygons defining locations or regions on the earth’s surface, enable Nebo to undertake actions when a vessel crosses a boundary.
Nebo founder Stephen Winter says it makes a lot of sense to build Nebo’s foundations on geofencing. “We’ve spent thousands of hours building the world’s largest maritime geofence database.”
“It’s been a huge undertaking, but now we have geofences in place for the major global boating regions,” he said.
“Right now, we’re triggering a log entry when a vessel passes a geofence boundary. In the near future, we’ll also be able to display useful local knowledge about an anchorage or information about businesses in the nearby towns.”
The may benefits of Nebo
Whilst Nebo is great on the water, it also provides other significant benefits. Nebo makes it easier to lodge and assess insurance claims, helps family and friends following the cruising adventures of loved ones, facilitates accurate expense distributions for shared boats and syndication companies, and assists charter companies and regatta organisers with the daily tracking of their fleet.
Users’ voyage reports and images can be instantly shared with individuals, groups or the public on all social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp.
Nebo creates a connected and dynamic global boating community, with boaters sharing local information, requesting assistance, and staying in touch both on and off the water.

Like any GPS tracking app, Nebo can drain your battery.
If your boat has charging facilities, it’s best to keep your device on charge whenever possible.
There are a couple of things you can do to get the most out of your battery when underway:
- 1. Switch on ‘Battery Save Mode’ – Nebo’s ‘Battery Saving Mode’ reduces the frequency with which Nebo ‘checks in’.
Simply go to: Other > Settings > Battery saving mode > Toggle on Battery saving mode
NOTE: When this mode is enabled, your boat’s location won’t update as often on other Nebo user’s screens.
- 2. Turn your screen off
We also recommend that you switch your screen off when you’re not interacting with Nebo. We’ve found the screen can be a power guzzler, so whenever possible, keep it turned off.
Nebo is built for people like you, so please send any feedback, comments or suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org. It would be great to hear from you.
