Have a question or want to send us a request for a new feature? We’d love to hear from you!
We’re a small but growing team, and we want you to have the best experience with Nebo, so we’ve recently implemented a helpdesk system to track your support requests.
It’s easy to use – just email email@example.com, and you’ll receive confirmation that your request has been lodged. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Since we launched Nebo, we’ve been automatically naming voyages by their day of the week, for example “Saturday Morning Voyage”. This is OK, but not very informative.
The new version of Nebo now uses our geofence library, and where possible, names your voyage according to your start and end locations.
See the example here where the voyage was started at Longreach Bay and ended at Rouse Head Harbour. The title of the voyage was automatically constructed by Nebo.
If we don’t have a geofence name where you start or stop your voyage, Nebo inserts the lat/lon coordinates instead.
Remember you can rename the voyage yourself. To do this, simply tap the voyage in My Logs, then the pencil icon and then type in your own voyage title.
If you didn’t receive a specific voyage report via email, or you accidentally deleted it, this is now no problem!
Our latest update (March 2019), allows you to tap a button and have the report resent to you immediately.
Just go to:
– Feed > My Logs
– Scroll to the date of your voyage, and tap the PDF button (next to the facebook icon).
– Your PDF report with automatically be sent to the email address you have logged into Nebo with.

Well known cruisers with their distinctive cow printed head sail, and loud sounding ‘moooooo’ boat horn, Holy Cow share their story.
Thousands of cruisers from around the world are seeing the many benefits of using Nebo to not only track their voyages and share their boating adventures with family and friends but to also enhance their regular safety routines.
Here is a story of boat owners that are self-confessed Nebo addicts. As some of our most regular users we contacted Kim & John from Holy Cow to find out more about them, their boat and how and why they love using Nebo.
Holy Cow’s backstory
Home port for John & Kim Clinton’s Beneteau Oceanis 50 Holy Cow is the CYCA in Rushcutters Bay, Sydney.
Early on, most of their sailing days were spent in Sydney Harbour until 2000 when they took one of Holy Cow’s predecessors from Sydney north to Queensland’s Whitsunday Islands for the Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Weeks.
Now, several Beneteau yachts and many, many regattas later, it’s an annual pilgrimage that begins at the first sign of winter when the humpback whales start passing Sydney Heads on their way north.
On their current Holy Cow, John & Kim have sailed some 50,000nms, going north and then back south along the east coast each winter, several summer trips to Melbourne and Geelong Festival of Sail, and one Sydney to Hobart Race.
While some of their crew used to help out on the 1,000+nm sprint up the coast for the Whitsunday Regattas (best time six & a half days), now it is a much more leisurely 2-handed husband & wife cruise from anchorage to anchorage, avoiding nasty weather and long nights whenever possible.
At various ports along the way Holy Cow stops over to fly the flag for her long term sponsors realestate.com.au and take out staff and their guests.
Holy Cow races in Cruising Division in various CYCA race series and regattas on Sydney Harbour and goes north for the Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Regattas.
Depending on the schedule other regattas include Sail Port Stephens, Geelong Festival of Sail, Magnetic Island Race Week and she’s done just one Rolex Sydney to Hobart.
Holy Cow & Nebo
“We have always kept very detailed log books (we have our entire sailing history recorded in shelves of log books) but when we read about the Nebo logging app we thought it would be a good option to have an electronic backup.
In Autumn 2018 we installed Nebo, just to try it out during our annual Sydney to North Queensland cruise see if we liked it. We discovered so many benefits, apart from just the logging, that Nebo has become a permanent fixture on Holy Cow.
As far as logging goes we do still maintain our traditional handwritten log books, but it is wonderful having the continual crosschecks and extra information, especially when you’re too busy to go below to fill the book out or when the odd figure doesn’t “add up”.
The ability to just print out the visual of the day’s journey or race, alongside the log, is another bonus. For those less inclined to meticulously record every detail manually (or who’ve grown up in the digital world) it must be a godsend to have all the tedious recording of lats & longs and various statistics done automatically.
Of all Nebo’s extra features, the ones we find most useful are to do with safety and communication.
The ability to select who, and when, you share your location and information with, and the option to see and contact both friends and other Nebo users through the messaging facility, have become essential utilities for Holy Cow.
We always have onshore friends and family following us, and we keep in daily contact wherever we can, but with Nebo our friends can now just look on their phone or computer and check where we are and how we’re travelling. These days we’ll get a phone call after we’ve completed anchoring (with a comment on our choice of anchorage) rather than checking on our safe arrival while we are still anchoring!
Nebo’s Tracking Device
Now Nebo’s latest upgrade, giving Holy Cow her own GPS tracker with a sim card, automatically logs her movements without even activating a phone or tablet – that’s just brilliant!
This will be a major benefit for charter companies and owners who share their boats.
This year when we journey north we’ll be sailing in company with friends on another (faster) cruising yacht which is also using Nebo, that means staying in contact, following each other’s progress and meeting up in anchorages will be so easy.
Better still it’s so simple to share that information with as many (or as few) of our friends and fellow cruisers as we wish!
Thanks Nebo, we love it and will continue to spread the word among our fellow boating friends!”

Say hello to the latest Nebo update!
To round out the year, we’ve put a new Nebo release up on the Apple and Android stores. Please make sure you update Nebo on your devices, and let us know how you go on your next voyage!
This new release includes a few important updates:
We’re finding many more skippers are using Nebo to chat each other, so we’ve done some significant work behind the scenes to make messaging more efficient and reliable. So use Nebo to have a chat with your boating friends, or use Nebo to make some new ones!
New Hybrid Map
By popular demand, we’re now displaying geographic locations on the satellite map. Previously you needed to swap to ‘normal’ map view to see locations, but not anymore. Towns, roads etc. are now displayed in both views, so it’s easier to keep your bearings as you pan around the map.
Android 9 Bug Fix
There was a significant issue that stopped Nebo running on Android 9 that we’ve now addressed. So, if you have an Android device and have had problems running Nebo, make sure you update the app and then give it another go. Please let us know how you go!
Thanks to all of you for your support, ideas and feedback through 2018. We’re looking forward to bringing you some fantastic new features during 2019 and to seeing the Nebo community continue to grow and grow!
The Nebo team.
We’re thrilled to report that Nebo has been downloaded 50,000 times since we launched 14 months ago.
It’s a significant milestone for a specialised app, and we’d like to thank all of you for your support.
Primarily designed as a tool to automate the time-consuming task of logging sea voyages using advanced geofencing technology, Nebo’s has constantly been evolving into so much more thanks to your feedback.
Now offering the worlds best on-water community, it has never been easier to find, connect and interact with boating friends.
The key words above are “boating friends”. Nebo isn’t trying to build a broad social platform like Facebook. The aim is to keep Nebo as the go-to marine app by being about all things boating, and all about sharing the journey. Definitely no cute cat videos!
By connecting with like-minded boaters in Nebo you can now share voyages and photos, ask questions, share important information, simply arrange sunset drinks and of course have each others back while on the water.
Nebo is also a great addition to your regular safety routine. Fellow boaters and those on land can see where you are at all times making for a safer boating community.

Have you walked around the block or run a dummy voyage to test Nebo’s capabilities?
No problems! You can now easily delete any voyages that you may not want to store in Nebo.
Using the same ‘Pen Icon’ edit button you use to add manual log entries and weather observations, you can also now delete individual voyages.
After many requests, our latest update allows you to delete a boat from your list of boats in Nebo.

This new features allows you to delete any boats you may have sold or set up as test boat when you first tried Nebo.
This new feature will help you tidy up & streamline your account. It’s very easy with the click of a button to delete a boat from Nebo. Go to:

- Select the boat you wish to delete, this will open up that boats profile
- Scroll to the bottom and click on “Delete”

America’s Great Loop Cruisers’ Association, (AGLCA) and Nebo are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for Nebo to become the Association’s official member locator app.
With Nebo, AGLCA members can keep track of each other’s vessels, chat to each other and keep an automatic log of their adventures.
‘Loopers’ generally take around a year to travel from the Great Lakes, down the Mississippi and other inland rivers, around Florida, and up the east coast to where they started (and where their vessel ‘crosses her wake’ with much celebration).
You can see the Great Loop roughly defined by vessels using Nebo in this screenshot.
Director of the AGLCA, Kim Russo is a huge supporter of Nebo and has been pivotal in finding the best app to suit her members.
“The Great Loop is a very social trip. Fast friendships form among those pursuing the common goal of completing the 6,000 mile route. Nebo’s ability to help AGLCA members locate one another and then chat to share details about the waterway ahead or upcoming plans, makes it the ideal Great Loop companion”, Kim said.
The Nebo team is very excited to build on the existing community of Loopers using Nebo, and to provide them with everything they need to log their ‘bucket list’ trip.

After many requests to be able to personalise your log, we are pleased to report that the latest Nebo update allows you to add your own text log entries.
While underway simply click on the pen icon and you can add journey updates, points of interest, encounters with nature, crew changes, sail changes, fish caught, engine on or off, your onboard gourmet delights, basically anything you would like to remember from your journey.
Your daily log will include this information neatly formatted within your log, shown at the time you entered the information. Don’t forget you can also add photos to enhance your log too!
You will need the most updated version of Nebo to use this new function.
